Getting teeth cleaning is an important treatment because it thoroughly cleans your teeth and removes plaque buildup from your teeth. Plaque is a material that builds up on your teeth over time—even if you haven’t eaten anything. If not removed, it can cause tooth decay and gum disease. During teeth cleaning appointments, your dentist will use a special tool to remove this plaque buildup. Then they’ll polish the surfaces of your teeth to ensure they’re smooth and more protected against decay.

What Happens During Teeth Cleaning Appointment?

During a teeth cleaning, our dentist will first perform a thorough examination of your teeth and mouth to look for signs of tooth decay or gum disease. Then, they will remove any plaque buildup from your teeth. They will then floss and rinse your mouth using a special antibacterial mouthwash to kill bacteria that cause tooth decay. Once this is done, your dentist will use an electric toothbrush to polish your enamel and remove any remaining stains. Finally, we will apply a fluoride treatment to strengthen your teeth’s enamel.

What Are the Benefits of Getting Teeth Cleaning?

Getting your teeth professionally cleaned twice a year is one of the biggest ways to keep them healthy and free from damage. It also helps to prevent various oral and overall health problems like heart disease. With regular cleaning and checkups, your dentist will be able to catch any problems in the early stages so that they can be treated more easily and with less expense to you. Plus, a clean smile is more attractive! If you want to keep your teeth in the best condition possible, then schedule a cleaning in Bloomington before the end of the year so that you get the benefits that come with it.

Your dentist will clean all of the surfaces of your teeth, including the sides and backs. They will remove built-up plaque that has hardened into tartar. If needed, they can also treat any cavities or gum disease that may become evident during the exam. This can help prevent the need for more invasive procedures in the future. In fact, your dentist may recommend having sealants applied to your back molars. These are plastic coatings that create a barrier between the pits and fissures on the chewing surface of your molar and the bits of food that get trapped there. This will keep them from getting stuck in the teeth, where they can harden into plaque. Sealants are fast and easy to apply during a checkup appointment and last for several years before a new application is needed.
