Dentures have been a reliable form of tooth replacement for decades. They work efficiently to prevent many problems associated with tooth loss. It can be a few missing teeth in your mouth or all of the teeth in one arch or both; dentures can be an ideal solution to solve the problem. At Baker Family Dentistry, we provide modern dentures to make your daily life easier and protect your oral health.

What are Full and Partial Dentures?

Full and partial dentures are handy restorations designed to replace many teeth at a time. Full dentures are planned for patients missing all teeth in an arch, while partial dentures work to restore a few teeth in a row.

Full dentures consist of a metal frame with artificial teeth mounted on a gum-colored acrylic base, and they are designed to rest on the gums.

Partial dentures comprise a metal framework that supports the replacement teeth. This would then be held using clips and are carefully fitted to lock into position using the support of the remaining natural teeth.

Both partial and full dentures can be removed for cleaning and maintenance. Our dental team will instruct you on the best methods for keeping your denture clean and last long.

Benefits of Dentures

  • Dentures make it easy to bite and chew food as before you lost the teeth.
  • Dentures re-establish facial outlines as they replace every single tooth in your mouth, thus restoring the shape of your cheeks and chin.
  • Dentures are removable, and you can take them off whenever you wish to, such as to clean your dentures or your mouth.
  • Dentures are more affordable as compared to other advanced restorations

The Denture Process

During your consultation, Dr. Lisa J Baker will examine your oral cavity and determine if a full or partial denture would work best for you. The mouth is scanned by using a digital hand-held instrument. The detailed information from the images will be used to create a 3D digital image of the mouth that will be used as a blueprint for constructing the dentures.

The fabrication process for a denture takes about three to six weeks, depending on the complexity of the appliance. We will also make sure the dentures match your existing natural teeth.

Once your dentures are ready, we will check them and make sure they fit securely in your mouth. Finally, we will also give appropriate aftercare instructions for proper care and maintenance.
