Sadly, very few people are blessed with naturally pearly whites as the years pass on. A teeth whitening treatment may be an apt solution if you are displeased with the color of your teeth. At Baker Family Dentistry, we offer professional teeth whitening services to help patients feel good with the appearance of their smiles.

Why Do Teeth Get Stained?

The main reasons for teeth stains and discoloration include:

  • Natural pigments in foods like berries, chocolates, soya sauce can stain teeth
  • Beverages like tea, coffee, and red wine
  • As we age, the dentin layer becomes porous, turning our teeth yellow
  • If a kid has too much fluoride, it can stain the dentin layer
  • Drugs like tetracycline can cause permanent tooth stains

Teeth Whitening Services at Baker Family Dentistry

  • In-office Teeth Whitening

For instant, dramatic results, we recommend in-office whitening treatment. In this whitening system, we use more potent chemical compounds to deliver the desired results. We use ZOOM ® whitening, which can brighten your smile up to eight shades in a single session.

During your procedure, we will apply several rounds of the whitening solution to the surface of your teeth and activate the compound with special laser light. Once your treatment is concluded, we will match your new smile to your previous one to evaluate your results and determine if additional treatment is required to meet your goals.

  • Take-Home Whitening

Take-home whitening treatments are an economical way to brighten your smile over a few weeks. Our office will provide you with customized whitening trays that fit securely on your teeth to allow for the whitening solution’s most comfortable and effective application. Impressions of your teeth are captured and sent over to our lab to fabricate the plastic trays.

The whitening agent used for take-home treatments contains a lower peroxide concentration than in-office materials but can still provide desired results over time. During your appointment, we will instruct you on your whitening regime. Most patients must wear their trays for thirty minutes at a time and continue this routine for a fortnight.

Is Teeth Whitening Safe?

The ingredients of a professional whitening solution have been tested and proven safe and effective. Our patients also undergo a comprehensive oral exam and cleaning before beginning any cosmetic treatment, including teeth whitening. This prevents unnecessary side effects or discomfort caused by existing dental problems such as cavities or gingivitis.
