Dental crowns in half the time
Before CEREC, adding a dental crown to a tooth required two visits. How does the CEREC process work?
Dr. Baker will still make your tooth a little smaller in preparation for your crown and take an impression of your mouth. If you received a crown in the past, dental putty may have been used for your impression. Although putty produces good results, it’s messy and makes some people gag. The CEREC system uses putty-less digital impressions instead and provides a much more comfortable impression experience.
Your dentist uses CEREC’s innovative software to design your new crown, then sends it to a milling machine, a device that’s like a 3-D printer for crowns. The milling machine removes layers from a block of ceramic or resin to create your new crown while you wait. After the crown is ready, Dr. Baker will check its fit, make a few adjustments if necessary, and attach the restoration to your tooth with dental cement.
